About Us

Asia is awash with private equity funds seeking superior returns from investments in growing companies – but as part of a portfolio of many investee companies. However, growing companies need more than just equity to grow. They need an active partner to handle the chores that an entrepreneurial founder disdains – mainly organisational, legal and financial structures, but which a growing company needs to avoid the pitfalls of high growth.

Founded in 1996, Asiaborders invests in one company at a time. This aligns our financial interest FULLY with that of the owners of the growing company that we invest in. As active investors, our investee company has our full commitment and attention all the time. We share in the owners’ vision and aspirations, we understand his ideas and thought processes are unique (and can seem quirky at times), and we add value by building on his existing business.

Our founder and CEO, Jonathan Hui, is an Economics graduate from Leeds University and an associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales. He has worked at Arthur Andersen in the UK and Singapore for 10 years. Thereafter, at Merrill Lynch and UBS Securities, he assisted a number of big conglomerates in Asia to raise funds on international capital markets between 1990 and 1995. Since founding Asiaborders Capital in 1996, he has nurtured a number of growing companies in Singapore into international groups and even, listed some of them on regional stock exchanges.
